Summary:
Functions as a competent clinical respiratory therapist responsible for the coordination, supervision, and evaluation of respiratory therapy student educational experiences. Includes a clinical faculty appointment at the partnering school, practicing within the Clinical Scholar model.


Work Schedule: Part Time (48hours per 2 week pay period) Flex


Job Duties:

  • Facilitates hospital orientation for respiratory therapy students. Collaborates with the academic institution’s course coordinator to plan course content, objectives, and learning activities. Coordinates student respiratory therapy clinical experiences in collaboration with respiratory therapy educators and preceptors.
  • Provides clinical supervision and evaluation of students, in coordination with assigned preceptors. Coordinates and conducts clinical conferences with students, to meet the educational objectives of the course.
  • Participates in direct patient care activities to maintain clinical competence. Independently administers medications per licensure authority, assesses and reassesses effects of these medications, documents administration in a timely manner per policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides assistance and consultation to preceptors for problem-solving and implementation of course objectives. Collaborates with leadership to develop goals and objectives for education and training programs as assigned. Supports efforts in professional respiratory therapy practice quality and outcomes activities. Maintains and reports on outcomes data related to assigned program.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.


Requirements:

  • Credentials:
    Essential:
    * Respiratory Therapist-State
    * Registered Respiratory Therapist - Nat'l.
    * Basic Life Support
  • Minimum Required Education: BSRT in respiratory therapy from an accredited program. Internal candidates may hold a ASRT if a BSRT is in progress. Preferred: Advancement to Level III in the STAR clinical ladder program.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RT). NBRC – RRT. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and any relevant certification as determined at position level. Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), and Neonatal and Pediatric Specialist (NPS).
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting. Instructional teaching experience, both formal and informal.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)



The pay range for this position is: $31.61 - $47.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.


An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
