Summary:
Carries out patient care assignments and performs established nursing procedures, utilizing population-specific guidelines.

Work Schedule: Part Time, 48 hours/pay period, Monday - Friday, Days

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care according to nursing and medical plan of care and within scope of practice, using population-specific guidelines. Delivers care for patients in all surgical specialties, anesthetic types, wound management, and medication administration. Involves patient and family/significant others in plan of care.
  • Responds to complications related to surgery and anesthesia.
  • Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team to provide teaching related to anesthesia, such as complications and after-care.
  • Adheres to established protocols related to patient care, patient safety goals, and medication administration. Documents care provided per established guidelines. Identifies opportunities for practice changes based on evidence-based nursing literature and research. Floats to other clinical areas in HSC as needed.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Required Education: Graduate of nursing program: Diploma, ADN, BSN, or MSN .
  • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) Certification from the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification (ABPANC) within 18 months of hire. 
  • ACLS and PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum Experience:  Preferred: 1 year of nursing experience.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $27.58 - $41.37 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
