Serves as spiritual care specialist providing spiritual, cultural, emotional and relational care to patients, their family members and organizational staff. Provides education and mentoring.

  • : This position is specifically for a Palliative Care Chaplain with the UCH Inpatient Palliative Care Service.

Work Schedule: Full Time Days

Performs and documents spiritual visitation, worship services and outreach.

Participates on hospital committees and community boards. Provides staff support around crisis intervention, trauma, stress and ethical issues.

Teaches classes and in-services designed to educate and provide therapeutic assistance to students, patients, family, staff and the community.

Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care and patient health.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

    Minimum Required Education: Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited school. Satisfactory completion of 4 units of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) CPE.
    Required Licensure/Certification: Ordained or in the process of ordination or member of a religious vocation and have denominational
    endorsement. Certification: None Required: Preferred: Association of Professional Chaplains. May require department specific certification.
    Minimum Experience: 1 year of relevant Pastoral experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Two years hospital, long-term care or hospice care experience.

    Commitment to obtaining Palliative Care certification within 5 years

The pay range for this position is: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
