UCHealth’s northern Colorado Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Research Program is seeking an experienced RN clinical research coordinator II (RNCRC II) that is passionate about medical innovation and desires to contribute knowledge and expertise in a collaborative team environment within a community-based health care system. The RNCRC II is a specialized research professional supporting studies in clinical trials, outcomes research, translational medicine, global surgery, health equity, and health services.

The RNCRC II will support investigators on research studies to further the mission of the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Research Department. Individual may also support research projects related to critical care and other related specialties. This position serves as a primary contact, educator, and mentor for UCHealth’s robust and highly visible research practicum program.

  • Applicants with interest and experience in FDA regulated research, investigator-initiated studies, participant screening, data collection, data abstraction, secondary data preparation, multi-center data studies, and working with multiple investigators are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants with demonstrated experience teaching and working with students preferred and must be willing to mentor students at varying levels of education (undergraduate, graduate, professional) across several disciplines.
  • Preferred skills include professional and clear verbal and written communication style, ability to manage multiple deadlines, and be adept at learning new technologies.

Coordinates research projects, with applicable research management systems, processes, and monitors progress and completion of clinical studies/trials. May support the design and procurement of funding for new study protocols.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborates with principal investigator, sponsor, and research staff to plan, conduct, and evaluate project protocols. Monitors and reports on progress of projects, as necessary.
  • Conducts informed consent, provides clinical education, performs clinical procedures and other clinical assessments on study participants per the protocol and within scope of practice. Assists with the pre-screening, selection, education, testing and monitoring of research participants.
  • Assesses eligibility of potential participants. Conducts informed consent, utilizes clinical judgment, provides clinical education, performs clinical procedures and physical and other clinical assessments on potential and active study participants per the protocol and within scope of practice.
  • Coordinates with investigator to manage adverse events, compliance, and other participant-related issues. Facilitates the education of necessary parties. Ensures the completion and maintenance of consent forms, case report forms, SAE's and source documents.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.


  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • 4 years of nursing experience and 2 years Research experience.

The pay range for this position is: $31.50 - $48.83/ hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
