Respiratory Therapist Traveler – Poudre Valley Hospital Main Hosp

The Respiratory Therapy Department at Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH) provides routine and critical care respiratory therapy 24/7 to a wide variety of patient populations. PVH is a tertiary care center serving northern Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. PVH has a Level III 25-bed NICU and a 5 bed Peds unit that the RT team works closely with. The RT department also supports a 12-bed adult ICU, 10-bed Progressive Care Unit which can flex to ICU beds, and general medical/surgical, ortho/neuro/spine and emergency department. Respiratory Therapy is an integral part of the Code Blue, Emergency Department, and Rapid Response teams. The therapists in our department utilize a variety of protocols designed to deliver optimal care.

Shift - Nights

13 week assignments available now – extensions options

Requirements: 

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • CO State licensure as required by law
  • 1 years experience preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP
  • BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

Job Duties: 

  • Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
  • Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment utilizing appropriate protocols.
  • Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community resources
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
