System Manager, Medication Use Policy and Formulary Management


This position maintains responsibility for system formulary management and the system medication use evaluation program that improves drug therapy outcomes, organizational performance, and overall quality of patient care.

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80 hours/pay period, Days


  • Leads or coordinates evidence reviews as part of the formulary management process, including single-drug monographs and therapeutic class reviews.
  • Coordinates agenda and materials for System P&T Committee and various subcommittee meetings.
  • Maintains accurate UCHealth system formulary information on vendor software system.
  • Collaborates with local and regional medication safety, informatics, clinical pharmacy specialist, pharmacy purchasing, and pharmacy operations teams to implement formulary changes in both inpatient and ambulatory care areas.
  • Coordinates formulary change priorities brought forth by the clinical pharmacy leaders within the organization to ensure practices and workflows are in alignment with emerging evidence.
  • Organizes system medication use initiatives and utilizes analytics to monitor quality, safety, and financial outcomes; performs statistical analyses to develop robust metrics that optimize medication use.
  • Maintains system policies and procedures related to medication use and formulary operations.
  • Leads outpatient medication recall process with patient level impact and coordinates with appropriate stakeholders for communication, education, and identification of next steps.
  • Monitors non-formulary and high cost medication usage to inform formulary decisions.
  • Serves as a resource to best practices in formulary use management and resource stewardship.
  • May supervise personnel .


  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Pharmacist.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years of post-graduate experience.
  • Preferred: Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency required; completion of a PGY2 in Medication Use Safety and Policy preferred.

The pay range for this position is: $63.32 - $101.31/ hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
