Working with the Clinical Supervisor to oversee the refractive surgery team at all locations of UCHealth SAR Eye Center with organization, oversight, and direct patient care. Support department growth, key objectives, patient safety and excellent patient experience.


  • Assist in service line growth with a focus on patient experience, outcomes, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills and work to increase personal and team accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other teams to support department and patient needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate attributes including an aptitude to handle difficult conversations with both employees and patients.
  • Develop strong working relationships and build trust with providers and staff members.
  • Monitor the scheduling template for pre-operative measurements and assign resources.
  • Maintain technical knowledge in the area of specialty and stay current on new technology.
  • Assist with staff training, clinical education, and technical demonstrations for staff.
  • Coordinate repairs with engineering and report major equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Under the direction of a provider, perform refractive consultation measurements and refractive chart prep.
  • Communicate with refractive patients to provide education.
  • Organize supplies, resources, and staff for refractive procedures.
  • Coordinate chart review and surgical plan with provide.
  • Perform administration of medications under the direction of the provider. 


  • Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate's degree.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of related experience.


  • Associate’s degree
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of optics and refractometry.
  • Experienced with refraction, pentacam, and wavefront measurements.
  • Experience assisting with refractive procedures; experience with femtosecond and excimer lasers 

The pay range for this position is: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
