Title: Ophthalmic Clinical Coordinator, Triage

Working with the Clinical Supervisor to oversee patient triage, staff education, and process improvement project and implementation at all UCHealth SAR Eye Center locations with organization, oversight, and direct patient care. Support department growth, key objectives, patient safety, and excellent patient experience.

Job Duties:

  • Motivation to improve the departmental process for handling patient triage with a focus on patient experience, outcomes, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills and work to increase personal and team accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other teams to support department and patient needs • Excellent customer service attributes, including an aptitude to handle difficult conversations with employees and patients.
  • Develop strong working relationships and build trust with providers and staff members.
  • Develop education and resource tools for clinical and non-clinical employees.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to ophthalmology call center agents on scheduling and triage
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge EPIC (Electronic Medical Records)
  • Staff training for proper documentation and triage processes.
  • Understanding triage for multiple sub-specialty, including safely managing urgent triage.
  • Managing patient medication refill workflows, including partnering with PAR (Prior Authorization Team)


  • Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate's degree.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of related experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of ophthalmology triage.

The pay range for this position is: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
