Coding Quality Coordinator, Hospital Outpatient

This is a full-time, remote/work from home, exempt/salary position on the UCHealth Hospital Outpatient Coding team. Potential opportunity for eligible out-of-state applicants. 

A RESUME IS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.

Job Duties

· Responsible for handing and facilitating coding data integrity by reviewing diagnosis and procedure code assignments, and validating APC designations.

· Conducts internal quality reviews on a regular basis, in accordance with official guidelines, rules/regulations, and internal department policies and procedures. Reviews government, commercial and other external audits - both automated and complex. Performs internal audits as requested by other departments. Monitors and reports issues/trends.

· Provides in-depth training and cross-training to new and existing coders, providers, and others as necessary. Assists with developing and guiding SMEs (subject matter expert) responsibilities. Shares and presents pertinent coding education to staff, leadership and others throughout the Health System.

· Responds to coding questions submitted by staff, leaders and others throughout the Health System. Seeks advice from official professional references to clarify and guide proper coding practices. Reviews physician queries for appropriateness, and related correspondence.

· Reviews coded claims data in response to denials and customer service requests. Provides thorough rationale and explanation for proper code assignments.

Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC
    • 3 years of relevant experience


    The pay range for this position is: $29.54 - $44.31 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
