Pharmacy Technician II - Patient Line Refill Center
Location: Aurora, CO
Summary:
Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the registered pharmacist and patients. Acts as a mentor for Level I technicians.
Work Schedule: PRN Rotating
Responsibilities:
Position Overview
This position is within the Patient Line Refill Center (PLRC) and is non-patient facing. The team is responsible for following a standardized protocol approved by the UCHealth P&T Committee to ensure appropriate monitoring and authorization of medications for UCHealth primary care and specialty clinics. The PLRC team includes Pharmacy Technicians, Medication Access Specialists (MAS), Clinical Nurses and Clinical Pharmacists. They process over 80,000 refill requests per month on behalf of UCHealth providers. PLRC team members establish collaborative working relationships with clinic staff, providers, and patients across the UCHealth system to authorize, troubleshoot, and resolve prescription refill issues. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, contacting patients and pharmacies for clarification of refill requests, transcribing details from faxes and phone messages into the electronic medical record and advocating for utilization of UCHealth pharmacies.
Job Duties
Accurately document pertinent information related to the refill request in the chart.
Redirect refills for controlled substances and non-protocol medications to the clinics.
Answer phone calls from patients and pharmacies.
Call patients and pharmacies regarding the status of their refill and verify information related to the refill.
Accurately input information from fax refill requests and patient calls into patients’ chart.
Stay current with and appropriately utilize PLRC resources.
Communicate with providers, clinic staff, patients, and PLRC team members in a clear and professional manner in person, over the phone, and in writing.
Support the PLRC staff in prioritizing work, meeting performance standards and collaborating with other teams when necessary.
Position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work independently and collaborate with the team.

Preferred Skills
Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience
Experience working in Epic
Proficiency in using all Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.)
Ability to quickly learn new computer programs
Ability to adapt to change
Requirements:
The pay range for this position is: $20.87 - $27.13 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
