Highlands Ranch Hospital is currently looking for a Patient Access Specialist (PAS)to help serve the needs of our complex Oncology Infusion patients. The HRH Infusion Center sees patients with a wide variety of cancer types, including Blood, Brain, Breast, Gastrointestinal, Gynecologic, Head and Neck, Lung, Prostate and Skin. These are patients with acute and urgent needs as well as patients with chronic illnesses who are stable and being seen for long-term follow-up. Services provided include IV support such as fluids and electrolyte replacement, as well as chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products. The Infusion team includes nurses, physicians, pharmacists, patient access specialists and advanced practice practitioners, a dynamic team all working toward the same goal of delivering outstanding patient care.

Specific responsibilities of the PAS Sr will be infusion scheduling and care coordination, including working with outside departments to assist patients with scheduling supportive care and treatments in coordination with other necessary appointments. Scheduling appointments will include coordination with other locations throughout the UCH system, as not all patients receive their care at HRH alone. Other duties include helping with InBasket requests and may also serve as a back-up for patient check-in and phones. We are looking for a flexible, helpful and positive individual to join our amazing team. 

Summary:

Schedules and registers patients. Obtains demographic information and performs related clerical functions.

Work Schedule: Full Time Days - Hours will be Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, no holidays and no weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules appointments, follow-up appointments, and assigns appropriate length of visit per physician request.
  • Provides instruction to patients regarding what to bring to the appointment, time of appointment and location of physician. Registers patients for medical care including laboratory, outpatient services, physician or other medical office. Pre-registers patients when needed.
  • Collects and confirms complete patient demographics, current employer, emergency contact information, insurance and case-specific information such as referring physician.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility for governmental insurance payors (i.e. Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, etc.). May complete Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaire for all Medicare eligible patients. Reviews patient accounts for outstanding balances and forwards to Accounting.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

The pay range for this position is: $19.10- $24.83 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
