Medication Access Specialist - Anticoagulation Services
Location: Aurora, CO

Summary:

The Anticoagulation Medication Access Specialist (MAS) is a pharmacy technician who supports the Anticoagulation Clinic healthcare team and patients through a variety of daily responsibilities and direct and indirect patient interaction. The majority of work will be completed within Epic, RightFax, MS Teams, and other Microsoft applications. 

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80 hours/pay period, Days

Responsibilities:

  • Triage incoming telephone calls and MHC messages, including prescription refill requests, dose clarifications and pending any medication-related questions to the pharmacists.
  • Complete a proactive benefits investigation for medications, including completing prior authorizations or providing financial assistance options as needed
  • Facilitate and coordinate Home INR orders and set up for patients
  • Assist clinical pharmacists with setting up scheduled phone visits. Place outbound phone/MHC messages to patients reminding of lab work due. Identify patients past due for follow-up by the anticoagulation clinic
  • Compile educational materials for new patients
  • Manage faxes (lab orders, INR results, refill requests, etc).
  • Review/order yearly anticoagulation referrals
  • Attend anticoagulation staff meetings and huddles
  • Identify areas of opportunity to continue to improve efficiency of clinic and care delivery to patients
  • Work closely with direct supervisor on development of MAS Career Ladder opportunities and continuing to elevate the MAS scope
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action

Requirements:

  • Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: PHATP (Pharmacy Technician Provisional) certification from State Board of Pharmacy. PHAT (Pharmacy Technician) certification from State Board of Pharmacy within 18 months of hire.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience or 1 year of experience performing prior authorizations or refill renewals.
  • Preferred: 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.

The pay range for this position is: $21.49 - $27.94 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
