Charge Nurse RN Cardiac & Procedural Short Stay Nights

6+ months of recent charge/relief charge RN experience strongly preferred. 2 + years of inpatient, med/surg and cardiac telemetry experience strongly preferred.

Summary: 16 bed unit comprised of both cardiac procedural step down and med surge level of care patients. Focusing primarily on post procedure patients staying overnight form cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, bronchoscopy and GI. Additionally, we recover cardiac post procedure patients from sedation and anesthesia as well as admit patients for initiation of anti-dysrhythmia medication.

Provides direct patient care at a proficient level, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors the patient to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Work Schedule: Full Time Nights

Job Duties:

• Supervises and mentors staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, and patient acuity.
• Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care, including formal evaluation, and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
• Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN
• Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years’ experience
• BLS - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
• 1 year of nursing experience. Per UEXCEL Bylaws, must promote to Charge Nurse III within 3 years of promotion to Charge Nurse

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing

The pay range for this position is: $36.47- $56.52 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
