Summary:


Supervises daily staff activities for the University of Colorado Hospital Eye Center. 


Job Duties:

  • Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Supervises employee productivity and utilization; schedules clinical staff into individual physician clinics. Evaluates staff performance. Assists with disciplinary situations. Maintains efficient patient flow. Monitors work performed to meet practice standards. Coordinates minor surgical and laser procedures.
  • Administers medications per protocol, assesses effects, and documents care. Ensures patient safety. Coordinates continuing education and training activities. Assists with physician participation in ophthalmic technical education. 
  • Provides education and technical demonstrations to students and staff. Assists in orienting and mentoring staff. Assists with quality control and maintenance of equipment and supplies, stocks supplies, and performs minor equipment repairs. 
  • Coordinates repairs with engineering. Reports major equipment malfunctions. 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ophthalmic Vocational training or Completion of 1 year sponsored training on the job
  • 2 years of supervisory experience


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 2 years of high intensity customer service experience
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) 
  • BLS

The pay range for this position is: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour.  An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
