Cardiovascular Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist
Location: University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora, CO

Summary:

Coordinates and provides comprehensive medication management to optimize medication use for the cardiovascular critical care patient population including, but not limited to, advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplant.

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80 hours/pay period, Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm,  Weekend and holiday requirement, Days

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Critical Care Pharmacy Manager, the cardiovascular critical care clinical pharmacist will require independent decision-making, clinical judgement, and in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular, transplant, and critical care pharmacy. The primary location for this position is the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), in which the clinical pharmacist will provide pharmacist coverage for cardiology, heart failure, and heart transplant patients. The cardiovascular/critical care clinical pharmacist will be responsible for clinical and operational coverage of the CVICU unit (24-bed unit that contains ICU and intermediate level of care patients). The pharmacist’s hours will be Monday through Friday 0700-1530 with a weekend and holiday requirement. The cardiovascular/critical care clinical pharmacist will work with physicians, nursing staff, and other pharmacists to maximize the benefits of medication therapies and minimize toxicities. The activities of this clinical pharmacist are diverse and will include, but are not limited to, medication therapy management, development of critical care pathways/protocols/polices, multidisciplinary education, research, precepting, and participation in emergency code response. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Pharmacist and any relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
  • Completion of a PGY2 residency in critical care pharmacy with experience in heart transplant is highly preferred.  

The pay range for this position is: $50.76 - $76.14 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
