Location: UCHealth Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion, US:CO:Aurora

Department: UCH CO Responder Program

FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days 

Pay: $31.61 - $47.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary:

The City of Aurora believes in providing the right resources at the right time to citizens in need, especially for those in crisis. The City of Aurora and the Aurora Police Department partner with UCHealth and Falck Rocky Mountain to provide three different crisis intervention programs to ensure that Aurora citizens have access to the most appropriate resource regardless of their situation. The civilian-led Aurora Mobile Response Team (AMRT), the Aurora Police Department’s Crisis Response Team (CRT), and the Targeted Violence Prevention (TVP) program operate to provide a continuum of care through direct intervention, individualized crisis case management and resource referrals. 

The Aurora Police Department’s co-responder program, the Crisis Response Team, pairs Mental Health professionals with Crisis Intervention trained law enforcement officers to provide on-scene trauma informed care to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. 

Work Schedule: Full Time/(4) 10 hour shifts 

Wednesday-Saturday (12pm-10pm) 

Responsibilities:

  • Interviews and assesses patients and/or patient’s family, caregivers, and/or legal representatives.
  • Determines, provides and/or arranges for needed internal and external services/interventions. Participates and/or arranges case reviews/care conferences to evaluate progress. Consults with healthcare team members to promote, monitor and evaluate compliance with patient’s treatment plan.
  • Responds in the field as a co-responder with local law enforcement to patients in active crisis. Identifies appropriate resources including transportation, housing, healthcare, and social/spiritual services, and provides referrals as part of the field response.
  • Utilizes appropriate teaching methods and/or referrals to ensure patient/family educational needs are met. Participates and/or trains new staff, students and interns as assigned.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Service or Behavioral Health related field.
  • State licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPC-C) or a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate (MFT-C) or Licensed Addiction Counselor (ACD), Social Work Candidate (SWC) or State licensure as Licensed Social Worker (LSW).


  • IF APPLICABLE:BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
